VIDEO PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

 

 

 

Function of Job

Under direct supervision from a designated supervisor, to provide assistance in the production of video recordings/programs (such as assistance in camera operations, lighting, sound, and/or editing.)

 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

 

1.      serves as a camera operator, gaffer, sound recordist, or editor in the production of video recordings/programs (such as videotapes or motion picture films made for instructional, promotional, or technical purposes)

 

2.      assists in determining production requirements, time, materials, and expenses incurred in assigned tasks

 

3.      assists in the preparation of production and/or equipment reports

 

4.      performs routine maintenance and maintenance checks on video equipment (such as cameras, tripods, viewers, and sound equipment)

 

5.      inspects and cleans preview recordings

 

6.      maintains equipment and expandables inventory

 

7.      serves as shipping/receiving clerk for the video productions operation

 

8.      performs other related duties as assigned

 

 

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

 

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

 

1.      any one or any combination of the following types of preparation:

 

                 a.    experience in video production

 

                 b.    credit for college course work in or closely related to video production

 

                 c.    vocational training in or closely related to video production

 

                 that totals 1.0 unit according to the following conversion rates:

 

                    12 months of “a” = 1.0 unit

 

                    12 semester hours of “b” = 1.0 unit

 

                    12 months of “c” = 1.0 unit

 

Amounts of training or experience less than those listed above should be converted to decimal equivalents of 1.0 unit and added together when computing combinations of the different types of preparation.

 

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO UNDERTAKE JOB

 

1.      knowledge of the operation and maintenance of video production equipment
